THE JOURNEY IN DETAIL

Three seas and a 55-mile passage.

A one-way route from Valletta to Trapani: first Comino and Gozo, then 55 miles of open sea to Sicily’s south coast, along the shores of Agrigento and Mazara to the Egadi islands with their tuna-fishing heritage and marine-reserve water. A real passage, medieval Valletta at the start and Favignana at the end — for those who want a little more sea than coastal hopping gives.

  • Leaving Valletta’s Grand Harbour beneath the bastions
  • Comino’s Blue Lagoon at dawn before the boats arrive
  • The Valley of the Temples at Agrigento, from sea and land
  • Favignana: Cala Rossa and the former Florio tuna works
