Granite, palms and a warm ocean.
The Seychelles’ Inner Islands are the world’s only mid-ocean granite islands, with pink boulders set into white sand. Distances between Mahé, Praslin and La Digue are short, so days are built around anchorages rather than passages. A catamaran is the best way to see Anse Lazio, Curieuse and the Vallée de Mai without being tied to ferries.

Mahé and boat handover
Fly into Mahé, ten minutes to Eden Island marina. Boat handover, provisioning and an evening in Victoria, Africa’s smallest capital.

Sainte Anne Marine Park
Three miles to the Sainte Anne islands. Snorkel off Moyenne and Cerf, lunch on board and a night on a park mooring.

Across to Praslin
The main passage of the week: 25 miles north-east across open water to Praslin. Anchor in Baie Sainte Anne and dine Creole ashore.

Vallée de Mai and Anse Lazio
Morning in the Vallée de Mai, the UNESCO coco de mer reserve. Afternoon round the north coast to Anse Lazio and a night under the granite boulders.

Curieuse and the tortoises
A short hop to Curieuse: free-roaming giant tortoises, a mangrove boardwalk and the old leper colony. Snorkel at St Pierre islet.

La Digue by bicycle
Five miles to La Digue. Bicycles, the L’Union estate and Anse Source d’Argent with its pink boulders. Night at anchor off La Passe.

Back to Mahé
A long 30 miles back to Mahé, a stop at Beau Vallon or straight into the marina. Boat return and a farewell dinner.

Arrive ready for the route.
A route for beginners and families: two- to three-hour hops and sheltered anchorages. Ivan helps pick the window between monsoons, when winds are light and the water clearest.
