How to choose a motorcycle tour for your experience

Start with surfaces and time on the bike

Ask about paved and unpaved sections, road conditions, passes and the longest day. A short rough section can take longer than a long flat road.

Describe your actual riding: bike, frequency, distances and gravel experience. City riding and multi-day travel with luggage are different experiences worth discussing separately.

Confirm the motorcycle and rental terms

A model name in a brochure does not replace rental conditions. Confirm the intended bike, the substitution process and whether a suitable riding position is possible.

Request written deposit, damage and return terms. Document requirements depend on the country and rental provider; confirm your licence is accepted before payment.

• Who supplies the bike and what does rental include?
• How is luggage transported and what is the limit?
• What technical support is available after a breakdown?
• Are passengers accepted and under what conditions?

Read the daily rhythm

An itinerary should make overnight stops, rest days and expected riding time clear. Discuss photo stops, group pace and options for a shorter day.

High-altitude roads, desert routes and coastal bends make different demands. Choose with the organiser after discussing your experience rather than relying on a difficulty label alone.

Budget and arrival

Check fuel, meals, tolls, equipment rental, transfers and accommodation. The tour price and a refundable rental deposit are separate costs.

Confirm the meeting point and time before arranging flights, and allow time to collect and check the motorcycle. Travellers arriving from different countries may need different connections.
