Machame Gate → Machame Camp
Begin the walk through mountain forest.
Overnight: Machame Camp - DAY 3 · Trekking
Machame → Shira
Continue onto the plateau's open high-altitude landscape.
Overnight: Shira Camp - DAY 4 · Acclimatisation
Shira → Lava Tower → Barranco
An acclimatisation outing, climbing higher before descending to sleep lower.
Overnight: Barranco Camp - DAY 5 · Trekking
Barranco → Karanga
Tackle the Barranco Wall with local guides, followed by a shorter walk.
Overnight: Karanga Camp - DAY 6 · Ascent / rest
Karanga → Barafu
Approach the upper camp, rest and prepare for a possible summit attempt.
Overnight: Barafu Camp - DAY 7 · High-altitude day
Uhuru Peak → Mweka
Ascend at the guides' discretion, then make a long descent to a lower overnight camp.
Overnight: Mweka Camp - DAY 8 · Descent
Mweka Gate and rest
Complete the trek, return to the hotel and recover.

Arrive ready for the route.
Endurance for consecutive walking days and a long final ascent. Individual readiness is assessed before the trip; reaching the summit is not guaranteed.

What to prepare in advance
- Footwear and warm layers for the specific mountain and season
- Sunglasses, gloves and spare mittens
- A headtorch and personal equipment from the guide's list
- For Kazbek: agreed crampons, harness and ice axe
