Running camp packing: a checklist without unnecessary purchases
Start with the programme and conditions. Ask about terrain, outing duration, water refill points and bad-weather alternatives, then review what you already own.
Match shoes to the surface
Ask whether the route includes dirt, rocks, roots or road sections. Grip and fit matter more than buying the most expensive model. Try shoes with your running socks.
Test them on a familiar short outing before camp. Check heel movement and toe pressure on descents.
Layers and kit for the trail
Agree on rain and wind protection, spare layers and how to carry them. Check forecasts for the actual dates and route area. Cooler Dalat does not mean no rain or sun.
Water and food requirements depend on time, conditions and refill points. Ask the organiser to explain them, then test how the kit fits.
- Tested shoes and socks
- Layers for expected conditions
- Water containers and familiar food
- Charged phone, offline map and organiser contacts
- Personal kit from the agreed list
Remember recovery and travel
Dry clothing and comfortable shoes may be more useful than another gadget. Ask about drying, laundry and indoor workshop space.
When travelling within Vietnam, keep your evening-arrival kit accessible instead of repacking before the first session.
What can wait
Discuss poles, watches and specialist items before purchasing. Useful kit varies between routes and runners.
Request separate lists of mandatory and optional equipment. MONT finalises them after dates and route reconnaissance.
Discuss your plan
Share your experience, preferred dates and expectations. We will use them to discuss the route and preparation.
