THE JOURNEY IN DETAIL

Pale walls and alpine meadows.

Cortina d’Ampezzo, at 1,224 m, is ringed by the Tofane, Cristallo and Sorapis — vertical dolomite walls with meadows and rifugio trails between them. Lavaredo Ultra Trail starts here in late June, and in July its course is still marked. A camp for experienced trail runners: big climbs, rocky ground and a night in a mountain hut.

  • Tre Cime di Lavaredo on the Lavaredo Ultra Trail course
  • A night in a rifugio beneath Tofana di Rozes
  • Lake Sorapis and the Cinque Torri
  • Cortina: coffee on Corso Italia after training
