THE JOURNEY IN DETAIL

A hundred kilometres of steps above the bays.

Hong Kong 100 starts at Pak Tam Chung on the Sai Kung peninsula and follows the MacLehose Trail past beaches, reservoirs and concrete staircases to a finish below Tai Mo Shan, Hong Kong’s highest point. 100 km, 5,140 m of climbing, a 30-hour limit. Winter brings 15–20 degrees, and the skyline seen from the ridges is reason enough to come. The Half (53 km) and The Third (34 km) run the same week.

  • Ham Tin and Sai Wan beaches in the opening kilometres
  • The Ma On Shan ridge over Kowloon
  • Night staircases on Needle Hill and Eagle’s Nest
  • The finish below Tai Mo Shan, 957 m
